How to span when media is already on the portable drive

I have a MacBook Air with iTunes and all my music. Due to size limitations of the SSD drive (500GB), I have all my movies on a portable seagate hard drive (3TB). I am not sure of the steps to have the iTunes library find the movies and videos on portable drive, or span to it. I get it when you have a new empty drive, but this one already has the media loaded.

Thanks

Marc

Thanks for getting in touch. So, just to be clear... your movies are currently on the external drive, but are not currently in your iTunes Library? And, you want them to be in your iTunes Library but stay on the external drive?

Yes, exactly. My iTunes library on my MacBook only has my music library. Want to keep the music on the MacBook, the movies on a larger capacity external drive. Thanks.

Cool, so in this case you don't actually need to use TuneSpan to get what you want.

To save my fingers from a bit of typing, you can read my response here about how to get your media files into iTunes without having them copied back to your local drive:
