"Update Span Information" takes forever after spanning to a network location

When starting TuneSpan the stage "Update Span Information" takes forever (several minutes) after starting to span files to a network share (Gbit network). Is this due to the network or might be there another reason? (library has 51k titles)

This is most likely because of the network drive, because during this phase TuneSpan is checking if the actual files are still in their same location. Checking each files existence over the network can take time.
To test if that is the only reason, try loading TuneSpan when the network drive is unavailable. In this case, TuneSpan should much more quickly see that the drive is not available and not check each file.
Also, during this phase, TuneSpan makes sure to resolve a true path to the file incase any symlinks are being used. This can add a bit of time as well if you have any symlinks in your setup.

I have the same problem described above. In my case it sometimes lasts hours! until the span information is updated!
