I'm doing some testing with random arabic text now, and I am seeing some issues :-/
Not with the writing direction, but some of the text gets used in the file name, and that seems to be causing the note to not getting reselected in the list... which turns into a pretty annoying usability issue and something that just shouldn't be happening.
I think I'll need to escape some characters in the file name, I'm just looking into how to not strip out all of the non-english text so that the file name can still be somewhat readable.
So, I'm sorry that it may not be totally usable right off the bat.
But your arabic knowledge may be some help to me if you're interested in helping me to test this stuff out.
If you email me directly at "pico {at} randomapplications.com" I can send you a promo code to get NoteAway for free so you have nothing to lose, and you can let me know how things work out with arabic in NoteAway.

Alright, I've fixed the issues in the NoteAway source that I was seeing with arabic characters in the file name.
But, I'm going to hold off on submitting the update to Apple for a couple days to see if some other issues like this come up as more people start using NoteAway.
After I submit it to Apple, it'll take about 4 or 5 days to get through review, so it'll be at least a week or so until this update is out.
I could potentially send you a testing build early, but the testing version would not be able to support iCloud syncing. Of course, you would be able to turn iCloud back on when you get the official update from the Mac App Store.

I'm happy to say that the next minor update to NoteAway will at least have basic support for right-to-left input in the text area.
New notes writing direction will be set based on the current keyboard input language. So if you switch between Arabic and English keyboards, NoteAway will create new notes with the correct writing direction for the current language.
That's at least basic support, it may take another few minor updates for better right-to-left support in the notes list and all that.

So sorry it's taken so long to get this update out, I was planning on releasing a minor 1.0.1 update to fix this, but I kept going and going and now we're at NoteAway 1.1. There's a lot of other nice improvements as well, but I'm very pleased to say that NoteAway now has basic support for writing right-to-left (based on the current keyboard language) and the previous issues with typing in certain non-English languages like Arabic have been fixed.
Marking this as Solved, thanks so much for helping to make NoteAway better!

Yep! NoteAway should be able to support right-to-left text as well as vertical orientation in the text area.
But, this is version 1.0 and I haven't done extensive testing writing non-English notes.
If you run into any issues writing in arabic, let me know, and I'll work to fix any bugs that need fixing.
