Having to find each spanned movie by hand

No clue what has happened, but suddenly iTunes doesn't remember where my spanned movies are and I'm having to relocate each one by hand. Any suggestions on how to speed this up as we're talking hundreds of files.

Are the tracks still visible in iTunes? iTunes just doesn't know where the files are? Or, the tracks are no longer visible in iTunes?

The movies are showing up in iTunes as gray boxes. When I click on them it asks if I would like to locate them. I then find them on the external drive and they connect with no issue. After closing iTunes and reopening, it remembers the ones I located, so it isn't resetting.

It also will not sync movies until I find them.

If you open up TuneSpan does it prompt you about updating locations for moved files?

I get one pop-up when I open it that says "TuneSpan Can Trash Files for 10 Spanned Tracks Deleted from iTunes"

That's the only message. I've also tried changing my default library to the spanned one (now restored to the original) and that didn't do anything either.

Ok, thanks for checking.

First, try the Locate Missing Files option in the Tools menu of TuneSpan. But, if iTunes isn't finding the files when you try to play a track, that probably won't work.

If that doesn't work, you should be able to link your track back up to your files by basically re-spanning them.

Add all the missing tracks to the Spanlist in TuneSpan and set the Span Location to the folder where all the files actually are. Then, just click Span.

TuneSpan should update locations without moving any files.

Let me know if that works for you.

Pico,

Respanning got me about 95% of them back. Out of 364 I will definitely take that! The others seem to have some other form of issues I'll suss out, but thrilled to have the majority back.

Thank you so much for your help!
