Deleting original movie files on iTunes

Hi,

I have just purchased and spanned over 130 movies from iTunes with TuneSpan. Now that all those movies are successfully on my EHD, is it okay to delete the original files from iTunes? (I was just about maxed out on my Mac HD over 500GB of movies! Eee Gad!). TuneSpan never gave me an option to put those files in the trash. Additionally, how easy is it to open the EHD and add to iTunes to watch a movie on my AppleTV? Just drag and drop?

Thanks for the help in advance!

Cheers!

Okay... so I am kind of an idiot... The files are deleted from my iTunes media folder on my MacHD, but I still see them in my iTunes window and I am still in dire need for space on my MacHD.

Sorry...

Thanks for getting in touch.

You should not delete the tracks from iTunes. That's not how TuneSpan is intended to function.

TuneSpan moved the files and updated the locations in iTunes to point to the new location on your external. And, it should have moved the original files to the trash. So, all you need to do is empty the trash to get your space back.

The tracks stay in iTunes just as they were before and if you Get Info on them in iTunes, you'll see they point to the files on your external.

So, if you want to play them from your Apple TV, just make sure your external is mounted and available and you're good to go just as you were before.

Were you able to get your space back by emptying the trash? Or is Finder still showing the space as being used up?

Hi Pico!

Yes. It all works great and I do have my space back.

Sorry for the delayed response.
