Cloud icon next to many files that have already downloaded and spanned

Need Answer

Have over 17 thousand files spread over different drives and different types of media files. But little over 500 hundred of these files still show up with the cloud download icon next to them in iTunes. But what is even stranger is that when I look at family downloads and choose myself and then filter not in my library none of these files show. But if I filter All files then these and others show up. I can continue to download them time after time. the cloud icon stays and if I look in finder I have version 1 2 3 etc.

Any ideas

Thanks for getting in touch. I'm sorry you've run into an issue.

I'm familiar with iTunes reverting back to a cloud version of a track if you try to play a spanned track when the external drive is not available. Is that what could be happening here? Or is it happening on its own when the tracks aren't being played?

In this situation, TuneSpan should prompt to trash the stray file for the spanned track since iTunes is no longer pointing to it. Is that not happening?

The only solution is to re-download and re-span the file, but you should not end up with multiple copies since TuneSpan can trash the old ones for you.

This Shows up even when the track are not being played

Tune span is not prompting me to trash anything. I sees that the files are there. If I go in iTunes and go to family purchases. click on myself and filter not in my library I comeuppance with nothing cause all the files are in my library. But doing the same thing and filtering for all files many of the files show up with the cloud icon next to them. I click on the cloud icon and will download as many copies as I click the cloud icon. I never goes away

TuneSpan will only prompt to trash files for tracks that have been spanned. So, if the files are in your iTunes Media folder, TuneSpan won't offer to trash them.

This AppleScript from dougscripts.com may help you deal with the stray files that are being left in your iTunes Media folder: https://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=musicfolderfilesnotadded2

From reading over your post again, I am curious... The cloud icon stay even when you download the file and it's still in your default iTunes Media folder?

Hmmmm... if this is the case, I'm not sure about what's going on here. This sounds like it may not be related to TuneSpan since it's affecting local tracks that are in your iTunes Media folder. Have you searched Google looking for people with similar issues with iTunes?
