Album artwork missing after reboot - Spanned to NAS mount (NAS is connected at startup)

Ross Lafferty shared this problem 9 years ago
Solved

I have tracks spanned to a NAS drive. When I restart my macbook pro, the tracks show in iTunes, but without album artwork and wont appear on my apple tv computer library until I click "get info" for each individual track. Then the album artwork shows and it appears on my apple tv computer library. The NAS mount IS connected prior to opening iTunes.

Thanks for getting in touch, I'm sorry you've run into this issue.

While I can't offer any immediate fix, I can say that I've been hard at work on an update that will help solve this issue.

There will be a "Refresh Album Artwork" tool that you can run from within TuneSpan, and will even be able to configure to run when TuneSpan launches. Also, there will be an AppleScript layer in TuneSpan so you would even be able to have a script to initiate the command from within iTunes' Script menu.

This update is in the final phase before release, but I've been busy with other life stuff, so I can't give any deadline on when it will be released.

PS.

Just for full disclosure if it wasn't clear... this "Refresh Album Artwork" command is something that will need to be run whenever the issue comes up. It will not solve the issue forever after being run once.

The issue has to do with some funky iTunes behavior, so it will come up from time to time and the best I can do is offer a way to resolve it whenever is arises.

Yep, understood. I dont reboot often (no one running a non-windows OS does ;) ) but the ability to have a "one click" solution for when I do (even if I have to run it each time I reboot) is 1,000x better than refreshing individually.

I'm very pleased to say that TuneSpan 1.2 is now available on the Mac App Store and features the "Refresh Album Artwork" tool.

You can access this tool from the File menu within TuneSpan, set it up to be performed on launch in the Automation configuration, as well as initiate the process from within iTunes by installing the scripts available on http://script.tunespan.com
