Just downloaded TuneSpan and moved movies from iTunes to an external drive. All transferred except for 3-2 Pixar movies and another movie. How do I get those moved over? Judy

Thanks for getting in touch. I'm sorry to say that you may have run into a relatively rare issue that is caused by some kind of bug in iTunes where some tracks (usually some video files) just don't respond to the standard "set location" AppleScript command that TuneSpan uses.

I've tracked the issue back to non-English characters sometimes, but it's not a consistent fix. If the tracks contain any non-English characters, you could attempt to remove them from the name, artist, etc, whatever is used in the path to the file and try the span again.

If that doesn't work, you could attempt to delete the reference to the videos in iTunes and then re-add them to iTunes from the files. And then, reattempt the span. That may work as well, but it's not a guarantee.

As I said, this issue seems to be rooted in iTunes. It is a small number of file overall that seem to be affected, and its pretty much always some video files. This issue still exists if you cut TuneSpan totally out of the equation and use the most basic "set location" AppleScript commands with iTunes and these video files.

It's usually just a few files in a library, I don't get many reports of it being the majority of files that won't span.

I'm sorry that I can't offer any better news. I hope that a solution comes up at some point, but I'm not sure what I can do about it just yet.

Please let me know how that works for you, if the files still won't span, I could give you some tips on moving them to the external drive manually without TuneSpan.
