Turned off automatic formatting bar appearance when typing in NoteAway; can't find a way to access the bar now

Solved

The title should say it all. An additional and possibly related problem is that the heart menu icon at the bottom of the app disappeared not long after downloading the app. I don't know what options were under that menu, so maybe the option of accessing the formatting bar resides there? I'm attaching a screenshot of my app to show the lack of heart menu button.

Thanks for getting in touch. I'm sorry you've run into an issue.

You can manually show the formatting bar with the shortcut "Shift+Control+F".

You can find that menu item with the shortcut in NoteAway's Format menu in the menubar.

Nothing important for normal use was in that Heart menu. That is just the Rating menu with links to email a friend or leave a review on the app store or share on Facebook, etc.

Thanks for your response!

Also, for future reference, when I have the dock icon set to show icon "never", I can't see a format menu in the menubar. When I open the NoteAway window, the menubar remains showing the menus from whichever app I had been in immediately prior to clicking on the NoteAway icon in the menubar. I turned the dock icon on out of curiosity (I prefer to keep it off), and voila! The menus showed up. So maybe that's a bug that needs fixing? If I hadn't messaged here, I never would've known that there were supposed to be menus at all.

OH and I wanted to add: I LOVE this app!!!!! I'm a recent convert from NotesTab Pro. The ONLY thing I miss is having it sync to my phone, but I like NoteAway so much that I'll survive putting anything I need phone access to in the native Notes app. (I found NoteAway when I went looking for a new app because NotesTab Pro crashes in mobile almost every time I use it). So if you ever add a mobile version, I will probably worship you. In the meantime, I am still in love with NoteAway. Thanks for putting together such a fantastic app!

So glad to hear you enjoy NoteAway :-) I have plans for an iOS version in the future, but I can't give any timeline or deadline on that at this point.

About the menubar, showing the Dock icon is the only way to have an apps main menubar appear, that's just how OS X does things. I wish I could show the menubar without the Dock icon, but it's out of my hands.

But, when the Dock icon is always hidden, you can still right click the NoteAway icon in the menubar to bring up a submenu which has the full contents of NoteAway's main menubar so that you can still get to every single option with all the handy shortcuts.

I agree with Ashleigh, the formatting bar goes away far too quickly. I would like it permanently switched on. Also for me there needs to be an UNDO button for mistakes. I pasted across 26 small tables from Pages for use in a note. I made some form of error somewhere when adding data and couldn't find where I'd gone wrong - and the tables got let's say "out of control", and had to ditch the work and start again. Still the best note app to date though!
