Tunespan does not see my movies and TV-Shows, so I can't span them.

Solved

Hello,

I want to move my movie and tv-Show files, all of them are drm free movies not from the iTunes Store. Some are .mov, some mp4 some are m4v.

They are not shown in the user interface. I even added one movie after installing tunespan but that does not help.

This I hope ist just a bug that you can fix or I can work around because thats the one and only reason I did by your cool product: To make Itunes manage my mp3s just the way it does but NOT to copy all my BIG movies on my 500gb iMac HD.

TuneSpan is only aware of media that is already in your iTunes Library. Are these media files in your iTunes Library?

If so, you should be able to see the in in TuneSpan, if you just added them, you will need to reload TuneSpan. To make sure iTunes has saved the updated library, quit iTunes, and then relaunch or reload TuneSpan.

TuneSpan's interface is a bit different than iTunes. TuneSpan lists Playlists on the left, but the Media Type sections (Music/Movies/TV Shows) are listed in the middle of the top bar, right below the toolbar.

These files are in my library.

I did reboot my system, I did close iTunes and did close and reopen Tunespan. Still, I cant see the files. I know where they should be found in Tunespan.

I m currently using a second Lion account with its own iTunes running to stream my big movie files to appleTV. When I change to this account, I can see all movie files (different ones). Means Tunespan works perfectly but with the wrong library.

When I use my main library on my main Lion account I get the problem. I can see all media types, just not movies and tv-shows. I can even see Podcasts.

Additional Information:

Running Mountain Lion, newest iTunes.

The iTunes library was originally created on Windows but later moved to Mac.

Sounds like you need to change the library that TuneSpan is loading.

You can choose "Change Library..." from TuneSpan's file menu, or hold down Option as you launch TuneSpan.

You will need to navigate to your library and select the "iTunes Library.itl" file, but it may not have the ".itl" extension, which will also work fine. Also, TuneSpan will load the library just fine even if you've changed the name to something else.

TuneSpan will remember the libraries you've loaded and present you with a list of libraries after you have loaded more than one to make it convenient for you to switch between libraries.

Ok this solved my Problem. I had multiple libraries, and the one I am actually using is not standard-named. TuneSpan took the backup library that has no movies in it.

Thanks for the great and very fast support!

Great! I've marked this as Solved.

Let me know if you have any other issues or questions.

Thanks so much for using TuneSpan and for getting in touch.

Awesome! TuneSpan will load non-standard named libraries just fine, I've edited my comment above to include that note for future reference for other users that may run into the same issue.

Hi,

I've done what is said in the official answer, but it didn't work.

I still can't see my Books folder.

Is there an other way to get this fixed?

Thanks in advance.

Are your text-based books the only issue?

Or Music, and Audiobooks as well?

Sadly, TuneSpan cannot support spanning text-based books as well as a few other file types, because iTunes doesn't include them in the readable XML iTunes Library file. TuneSpan as well as all other 3rd-party apps that load the iTunes Library contents rely on this file to get the contents of iTunes.

I have some info about this in the description on the Mac App Store, which lists the other kinds of files that can't be spanned by TuneSpan.

Let me know if this is not the problem you are having and you are not able to see other things in your iTunes Library.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Happily it's only for the text-based books. The rest is as far as I can see available.

Again a missed chance for Apple. iTunes is imho the worst media browser ever produced. But, as a mac/ipad/iphone user you have a dependence with it.

Thanks to programs as yours, it makes everything workable.
