What does iTunes do when it can't find a spanned track?

Hi - what's the experience when you're away from your span (the non-local volume to which TuneSpan saves your tracks), and a playlist you're using calls on one of those files. Is it just skipped? Does it pop up an error? Or does the Mac start vibrating, and begin to smoke ?:-)

Thanks so much for getting in touch!

Of course, if you try to play a track directly that isn't available, you will get an alert like:

Generally, in iTunes, if your playing a shuffled set of music that contains some tracks that have been spanned, but are currently "missing", they will just be skipped over gracefully. That behavior is nice, if you're playing some set of music, you don't need to worry about what is available and what isn't, iTunes just plays whatever it can, and skips over anything else.

But, in iTunes 11, I have noticed one odd exception to that. If you let tracks play through and a missing track is up next, it will be skipped. If you use the keyboard controls to skip tracks and a missing track is up next, it'll also be skipped... still the ideal situation. BUT, for some reason if you are skipping forward through tracks with the iTunes next track arrow button in the interface and a missing track is hit, you will get that annoying alert. I've no idea why iTunes made the decision to do that, but that's the way it is. Luckily, it's not an issue in most cases, definitely not in my own normal usage, but I wanted you to be aware of that one snag.

Please don't hesitate to get back in touch if you have anymore questions about TuneSpan or anything.
