I'm sorry to say at this point there is no way to sync (and edit) notes on the iPhone or iPad.

I'll need to make an iOS version of NoteAway to be able to get NoteAway notes on the iPhone or iPad. Which is definitely going to happen at some point, but I can't give a deadline on when NoteAway for iOS will be ready and available.

But, if you setup your NoteAway Library in Dropbox, you can use the Dropbox app on iOS to at least browse and view your notes. It's not the most convenient setup as you have to navigate a somewhat cryptic "nartfd" package file and open the "TXT.rtf" file to read the note contents, but it is possible.

Are you (or anyone else) aware of a iOS text editor capable of accomplishing this workflow transparently. I think I recall a few that enable you to edit the extension of files that can be edited, but I am uncertain if any of those can then handle a rtf file enclosed in a bundle. Then an additional issue is whether you could use such an editor to change a file so that it could still be opened by the Mac app.

I would be willing to explore my collection of iOS apps to identify such an app if you'll give me a promotional code for the app (since I haven't bought it, but I am intrigued with seeing how it works. I wouldn't pay for it until I know whether such a work around actually exists). The lack of an iOS app to work with it via iCloud or Dropbox is definitely an issue you'll need to address.

I'm not aware of a text editor on iOS that can do this. And these files are actually "rtfd" files with the special extension "nartfd". And that is a package (folder) which contains the TXT.rtf file and any attachments and a NoteAway Tags file. So, I cannot recommend editing the TXT.rtf file directly even if it were possible.

I know that an iOS version is going to be critical. But, this is just day 2 of the OS X version being out. Gotta take one thing at a time :-)

Both GoodReader and OrganiDoc can visualize these files and read the TXT.rtf file. Neither allows editing the rtf file, but this file can be opened in apps that can edit rtf files (Textilus is the first I tried that was able to do this). Moving an edited rtf file back into the right location should theoretically be possible, but I agree with you it's probably not a good thing to do and isn't likely worth the effort. But a changed file could be emailed to yourself and then pasted into the same or a new note on the Mac.

To accomplish these tasks I placed my library in Dropbox/Apps/NoteAway.

Thanks so much for digging so deep into this issue and doing this testing.

Another issue is how NoteAway maintains it's metadata, like dates won't be updated when the TXT.rtf is edited independently.

Truth is, I just need to get on it and make NoteAway for iOS. It'll definitely take time, but I'm excited to really start digging into that environment.

Too bad that does not exist yet for iOS. But this is a good program.

As will appear, I'll buy the iOS and Mac versions.
