Tunespan hanging on launch

after using successfully for months today TuneSpan has started hanging on Launch and I can't get it to start.

Each time it bounces on the dock for a while then stops before the splash screen appears (and without the little dot under to identify running apps) and I have to force quit before I can try again (which doesn't help).

Thanks for getting in touch. I'm so sorry you've run into an issue and very sorry for my delayed response. Things have been hectic over the holidays.

Before I investigate any further, what version of OS X are you running? And also are you using the latest version of TuneSpan (version 1.2.2)? Be sure to update TuneSpan and try launching again if you don't have the latest version.

I'll be ready to respond more quickly when you get back to me with this info.

I'm also having this problem running the latest version of TuneSpan from the AppStore on the latest version of OS X V.10.10.2.

I have attempted to remove TuneSpan and reinstall but I must be missing some config or cache files not located within the app's folder.

Please advise.

Thanks for getting in touch. I'm sorry you've run into this problem as well. This is not something I've experienced myself with the latest version of TuneSpan, and you two are the only ones I've heard from about the issue.

So, I'll need your help to investigate.

If you let TuneSpan hang without force quitting it yourself, does OS X quit the app and present you with a crash or hang report?

If so, can you please send it my way?

Also, you're using a beta version of OS X, or was that version number a typo?

Do you know if anything specific changed on your end when TuneSpan started hanging?

No error message. It just hangs.

Oh yeah, I guess I am using a beta. Darn. :-)

The boot hard disk filled up. It was working before that and stopped working once this happened even once I moved a bulk of files onto a second drive.

Simply removing the application files and reinstalling did not fix the problem.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for sending this detailed info.

You mentioned that your internal drive filled up, I believe that may be the issue...

Have you cleared out space and emptied the trash? How much free space do you currently have on your internal drive?

All apps rely on "Virtual Memory" (or VRAM) to run which is basically the system treating free hard drive space as a slower RAM. When you run out of space on your internal drive, everything will start getting slow and weird and some apps may not run. TuneSpan loads up a lot of info from the iTunes Library and stuff so not having the necessary VRAM because of a full hard drive could cause a hang.

Yes, I have moved many files off of the boot SSD. It now has 350 GB free out of 1 TB of total storage.

More system details include 32 GB Memory on a Mid 2010 Mac Pro with 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad Xeon(s). My iTunes media files live on 2 x 4TB internal disk drives, both with over 100 GB free.

Are their any TuneSpan cache or system files that I can delete with the .app files so that I can to a full and total freshie re-install?

Hmmm, sounds like you should have absolutely no issues running TuneSpan.

There are some internal file you could try removing, but I'm not positive that will solve the issue. But it'll be good to investigate.

Please email me directly and I can give you some step-by-step details on some tests you can do to remove all of TuneSpans internal files to see if it'll launch without them, but then so you don't have to start fresh we can narrow down exactly what file caused the issue and hopefully that could help me solve the issue in the future.

I'd rather not post that info on here so future readers don't accidentally shoot themselves in the foot if it's not appropriate for their situation.
