Help identifying tracks already on external HD
Hi there,
I’ve been reading help topics and FAQs in the forum. I hoped I could figure this out myself, but I guess I’m too dumb.
For a while now, I’ve been backing up my Music folder onto an external archive. It’s 3 layers for some reason (Music/itunes/itunes media, with distinct files in each layer) I guess over years of adding and expanding. (screenshot of both folders attached)
Now I’ve purchased Tunespan and I’m guessing there’s an easy way to point the program to the archive folder on the external “The Batcave” which contains an identical copy of the “Music” folder on my system HD. I’ve pointed iTunes to the iTunes Media folder on the external.
So far when I start the process of “Select all tracks to consolidate files” it looks like it wants to copy all the files, which I think is an unnecessary step since they’re already in that folder. Am I missing something?
Would it be more straightforward if all my music files were in the iTunes Media folder on the external, rather than having some in the 2 folder layers above it?
Many thanks in advance for your help. I think TuneSpan is going to be a useful application, but I just have to get started with it.
